Don was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1925. He entered the US Marine Corp at the age of 17 in 1942.
Don served two tours in the South Pacific. In 1945, his division hit the beach on Iwo Jima and secured Ms. Suribachi in three days. Thus, the famous flag raising on Ms. Suribachi. His 5th Marine Division also served with the occupation of Japan.
Since he was discharged in 1946, Don has been a singer and performer in both Michigan and California. After a few years of that, he was called to Christian ministry as a pastor and singer. Don has had many opportunities as a guest speaker about his experiences in WWII. He has also worked for the federal prison system and Gospel Rescue Missions.
Don shared his life with his wife Rebecca for 70 years and has four adult grandchildren, six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Don loves his country and some of the beautiful states he has lived in are Michigan, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Arizona and now, the great state of Texas.
