Dallas Country Club, South Ballroom | Nick Pitts
January 23 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am
DBU’s Executive Director of the Institute for Global Engagement, Dr. Nick Pitts, PhD, spoke on campus as a part of the T. B. Maston Lecture Series. Founded in 1985, the Maston Lecture Series is named in memory of former Baptist professor and ethicist, T. B. Maston, and provides opportunities for Baptist schools to host leading Christian thinkers.
Dr. Pitts spoke during chapel to the student body, as well as during a special luncheon for the DBU faculty and staff. He addressed the issue of the persecuted church around the world and how Christians are called to stand alongside their brothers and sisters in Christ. He encouraged students to go outside their comfort zones to fight for and defend others.
“There are hurting men and women around the world who need an ally,” stated Dr. Pitts. “In this moment, they need someone to not give up on them—the same way God did not give up on you. God wants to use you. Will you be used by Him?”
Previously, Dr. Pitts worked for the Denison Forum, and he continues to write a daily email called “Daily Briefing” that is distributed to more than 10,000 individuals. In addition, he cohosts each week the “Point of View Radio Talk Show,” contributes on Glenn Beck’s TV show, “Think Tank,” and has written op-eds for the Religion News Service, Townhall.com, Christian Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
